Was initiated into the fabulous surrounds of ‘Arnie’s Barn’ last weekend – obviously those in the know have been enjoying the yearly event which celebrates his birthday for some time – 10 years I heard it has been going for…. it is a mini- music festival all in its own right. The countryside was gorgeous – green and lush – and it was good to see the ‘home’ of the Stzlecki Stringbusters. Was great catching up with some faces I haven’t seen for quite a while, particularly Mandy and daughter Kaitlyn, who is growing up into a beautiful young girl and playing some great mandolin. Gippsland turned on the cold in the evening but all was cosy and warm in and around the barn with various fires burning to keep the toes warm and to jam around till the wee hours. It was lovely to watch all the kids, of varying ages, having the time of their lives, playing and climbing amongst the layers of hay taking them to the roof of the barn, while all the adults were having their own fun enjoying the live music and socialising. I really enjoyed Fay and Alan Davidson’s infamous bagpipe section which I believe is a tradition of the event. What an inspiring musical family! Thanks Arnie!!
