Well, we are so fortunte to meet lovely people in our travels and Skipper Jason is no exception.
We made acquaintances at Sorrentos over a few beverages and some music and planned an overnight sail….so last week on Thurs and Fri we went out with 8 people on a beautiful Queensland Yacht Charter Cat of about 45 ft. A whole crew we had not met before, coolers full of alcohol, the essential instrument collection and masses of great food to share. Unfortunately the weather had turned a bit so we had a bit of a rough trip in and out (and I get sea-sick – so thank God for ‘Travacalm’). We moored overnight in Butterfly Bay off Hook Island and enjoyed lots of jamming and laughter as the bongos did the rounds and the alcohol supplies diminished.
The lovely Peter and Sue Harvey were on dog minding duties and we had to race around, pick up the dogs and get on down to K.C.s to set up for a gig that night when we arrived back in port. It was a trip down memory lane for me to play there as I first played there around 20 years ago in my first musical duo with Mark (Aero) McGuire (Three’s a Crowd). We arrived in Airlie at that time for a week and ended up staying 3 months. The place has barely changed and still has live music 7 nights a week!
