Well, we are here…. got our passes and checked in (Sunday)- though that was difficult as the football was on and all the roads were closed – amazing site to see the stadium and all the hordes of people on the streets in their Titans shirts. Quick visit to the Station Inn to check out the Sunday night bluegrass jam – and have beer and pizza. Peter had a chat with Roland White – as he does….
Tried to post this the other night but lost the connection. Now it is 4:15 am on Wed morning… we’ve done two 4am picking sessions in amongst the floors of the Renaissance Hotel (actually, I’ve done 4 am and left Peter behind – he is more like 5.30am ish)… we’ve had two awesome nights…. Last night, Del McCoury and his son’s played a ‘honky tonk’ downtown… place was packed!!! Had just a few minor guests – SAM BUSH!!!!, MICHAEL CLEVELAND AND DOYLE LAWSON… they were all jamming and having a great fun time…. really, there is nothing like LIVE bluegrass!!!
Tonight, we saw the Steeldrivers Showcase Concert – they are my absolute favourite band!!!!… then went down to the anniversary concert for Russell Moore and Lonesome River Band at Jimmy Buffets Margaritaville. Then back to the Renaissance to hook up with the fabulous Jenny Shimmin in the bar…a little bit of picking and we were all trying to teach Audie Blaylock how to speak Australian – he keeps trying but is sounding like a Pommie.. we’re just training him for his upcoming Harrietville trip in November!
To top it all off, one of my best friends from primary school (Kerri Pope) has happened to be here in Nashville for a few days at the same time by coincidence – so I’ve had the pleasure of catching up with her too!
But I can tell you… it is hard to find time to blog!!!!!
