Picking at the Apollonian

Posted by on August 8, 2012

We’ve just made it through an enormous weekend at the historic Apollonian Hotel at Boreen Point on the Sunshine Coast. Pickers came from near and far (Bathurst / Brisbane / Tambourine Mtn / Melbourne ) to get into the spirit for the upcoming Beechworth festival and we all put in a big effort – jamming all night Friday night in the bar, Sat afternoon for the official picking session and Sat night back in the bar. Sunday, Peter and I were performing at the spit lunch which had bookings for 350 people!! With all the pickers still in attendance for lunch, we were joined by Dave Peters on the banjo, Steve Treloar on the mandolin, Stewie Porter on guitar and harmonica and Michelle Freeman on fiddle. Thanks Guys!!! What a treat to get to play with you all again – and all together! Then most of us backed it up with some more picking at Steve and Sue Treloar’s house! I can tell you – it has taken a few days to recover! A big special thanks to Lou and Neil Paynter for hosting us this week – wonderful friends that we’ve made in the last few years! We love you guys! Good luck with the pub!!! We look forward to the next time – whenever that may be!
