and see Byron Berline’s band perform. They were taping the show for 2 weeks of television and the first half of the show featured a hot house band and a range of local country talent; and the second was Byron’s band and a Texas Swing performer, Cowboy Jim Garling, so it was a treat!
Barry Patton was in the band – one of the world’s best bone players – he just stole the show!!!! We were singled out in the audience during the show as international guests from Australia and given a gift of 2 CDs and the compere chatted across the audience with us, joking about shrimps on barbies!!!. We met and chatted with all the band afterwards and lots of lovely local folk who are fascinated that we come all the way from Australia for their music!
along the way. Byron’s music shop is in Guthrie but closed on Sunday unfortunately. We wandered the streets of Guthrie taking video and photos as it is a beautiful historic town which was originally the capital of Oklahoma in the days of the Land Run in 1889
